Meet the candidate board!

With great pleasure, we would like to introduce the new candidate board. Fun fact: as far as we know, this is the first candidate board in the history of Squadraat that contains non-Dutch speakers!

Monty Slater – Chair:

Sadly not on the picture

I am Monty the candidate chair, many of you have got to know me on the courts and at events. For those of you who have not had the pleasure, I am the friendly face you can come up to and chat through rallies or get into an uncomfortably competitive game. I am fairly new to squash and the association, joining only last year, but that goes to show you how welcoming the association is and how good our coaches are. Outside of squash, I am doing my Master’s degree in Datafication and Digital Literacy, I help organise events around the city, I also do work for the university and do not tell anyone but I also enjoy other racquet sports mainly padel.

Jona Frank – Secretary:

Left on the picture

Hi! My name is Jona. Some of you might already know me, either from the courts or the socials. For
those of you who don’t: I started playing squash around a year ago, since I wanted to try a new
sport. Other sports I did (or even still do) were swimming, horseback riding, and dancing. Study-wise
I just finished my Bachelor’s in Psychology and I’m about to start my Master’s in History and Theory
of Psychology. I decided to join the board to try myself in a new position and to give something back
to the association that I have so enjoyed being a part of over the last year. I am looking forward to
the upcoming year!

Emiel Lieffering – Treasurer:

Center of the picture

Hello, my name is Emiel, and I am currently studying Econometrics at the University of Groningen.
I have a deep passion for squash; the fast-paced nature of the game, its competitiveness, and the unique playing styles of each player make it incredibly exciting for me. In my spare time, I enjoy playing board games, reading, and watching movies, especially those related to history. I am thrilled about the opportunity to serve as the treasurer for the upcoming board. I promise not to spend all our funds to make the Toss great again!

Ashwin Vaidya – Internal Affairs:

Right on the picture

I have a master’s in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Groningen with an honours in High Tech Systems and Materials. I like programming, design, and sports in general. Fun fact: I’ve lived in eight different places across India while growing up, so on average I can understand three different Indian languages.

We wish them a lot of luck writing their policy plans and preparing for their board year. If you have any questions, remarks, or simply want to congratulate them, feel free to send an email to kb@squadraat.nl.
